The new Springfield Fire Commissioner is laying out his goals for the department.
Incoming Commissioner Mike Rivera says he wants to increase staffing and sit down with city officials to discuss abandoned properties like the former Vibra hospital site.
Later down the line, he hopes to expand SFD's training department.
Rivera will succeed Commissioner B.J. Calvi, who announced his retirement earlier this week. \
