Food Insecurity Increasing In Western Mass

A new study says the worst food insecurity in Massachusetts is in Western Mass.

According to the Greater Boston Food Bank and Mass General Brigham, the highest percentages of food insecurity in the Commonwealth are in Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties.

The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts says pantry usage has tripled since 2019.

Residents who are able to are encouraged to donate to food assistance programs in the area to help them meet growing demand.
