Red Kettle Drives are underway in the area and the state.
The Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive is underway with a Massachusetts goal of 2 point three million dollars.
In Fitchburg the goal is 125 thousand dollars.
Officials say that the statewide goal is higher this year because there are so many more families that are seeking help.
“Each act of generosity, large or small, helps The Salvation Army make the season brighter for families across Massachusetts,” said Major Elijah Kahn, General Secretary of The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division. “Our volunteers and donors embody the spirit of the holidays and make it possible for us to bring joy where it’s needed most.”
The Red Kettle Drive ends on December 24.
