State Senate Votes Against Springfield Casino Money Restoration

The City of Springfield's request for the state to restore its casino mitigation funding is being denied.

The Massachusetts State Senate voted yesterday to reject two amendments that would have reimbursed the city about three-million-dollars.

State lawmakers previously voted to reallocate the mitigation fund meant for the MGM Springfield casino to other projects in the Commonwealth.

Mayor Domenic Sarno said the funding is "vital" to communities across Western Mass, and the city will keep fighting to get it back.
