Early, Red Sox Shutout Athletics In Sacramento

Boston starter Connelly Early got his Major League career started with a dominant performance while leading the Red Sox to a 6-0 victory over the Athletics in Sacramento.

Early earned the win in his debut after striking out 11 batters through five shutout innings.

Romy Gonzalez and Rob Refsnyder both homered while combining for five RBIs.

The Red Sox have won three in-a-row to sit at 81-and-65.

The A's had 10 hits but went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

Jeffrey Springs was charged with his 11th loss as the A's slipped to 66-and-80.
