Massachusetts and several other Democratic-led states are suing the Trump administration over its efforts to limit gender-affirming healthcare.
The lawsuit targets an Executive Order that aims to undermine support for what the federal government refers to as "gender ideology."
It accuses the administration of exceeding federal authority and undermining state laws that require equal access to medical treatment.
Medically necessary health care for transgender youth saves lives, and those health care decisions should be made by patients, families, and their providers – not by politicians,” said AG Campbell. “I will continue to fight back against illegal policies that harm our residents and violate their rights.”
Besides Massachusetts, Connecticut is joining the suit.
