State Spending On Emergency Shelters At $830M

Massachusetts has spent 830-million-dollars housing families in emergency shelters so far this fiscal year.

State data shows that 679-million-dollars has been spent since last July first on direct shelter costs, with the rest going for other related services.

The final cost could soar over a billion-dollars before the fiscal year ends June 30th.

The state spent 894-million-dollars on the emergency shelter system in the 2024 fiscal year.
