Sarno, Markey Respond To Termination Of $20M Grant

Local and federal lawmakers are expressing outrage over the termination of a 20-million-dollar federal grant meant to improve air quality in Springfield.

Mayor Domenic Sarno's office said the grant was not an example of wasteful spending, as it was going to help people breathe and manage asthma symptoms.

Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey was more forceful, accusing the Trump Administration of stealing the money to fund tax breaks for billionaires.

Mayor Sarno said the city will pursue legal aspects to challenge the termination through the State Attorney General's Office.
