American Lung Association Warns Of Poor Air Quality In Western Mass

The latest State of the Air Report by the American Lung Association shows mixed results for Western Massachusetts.

The report gave Berkshire, Franklin, and Hampden Counties a "D" grade for particle pollution, which is the mixture of solid particles and liquid droplets in the air.

The organization believes this is a lingering effect of the Canadian wildfires from 2023 that carried smoke into the region.

However, the American Lung Association still named Pittsfield one of the cleanest cities in the U.S. for having one of the lowest levels of year-round particle pollution among over 200 metropolitan areas across the country.
