The Mohegan Tribe is confirming that the Connecticut Sun WNBA basketball team will be playing in the state next year.
The tribe has been exploring a possible sale of the team, with the values of WNBA franchises continuing to rise.
The Mohegan leadership indicates that they will continue to evaluate all strategic opportunities, but the Sun will play at Mohegan Sun Arena in the 2026 WNBA season.
The announcement ends for now the talk of the team leaving the state.
One version of the story had the team moving to Providence.
Another had the team moving to Boston.
