Public Safety And Homeland Security To Hold Hearing On Colby's Law

Lawmakers will hold a hearing today on motocross safety legislation introduced by Representative Steve Xiarhos.

The Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security will hear testimony on Colby's Law which honors the memory of 14-year-old Sandwich resident Colby Lippincott, who died last year at a recreational track.

"This bill is a tribute to Colby’s life and a step toward preventing future tragedies by ensuring safer conditions for riders across Massachusetts. We are proud to honor and remember Colby and stand with his family as we work to make this law a reality," the state rep said.

Xiarhos says recreational motocross tracks in Massachusetts currently operate without mandated medical presence, inspection requirements, insurance standards or oversight.

He says Colby's Law doesn't restrict the sport, it protects it.
