Chicopee City Councilor Dies

A longtime member of the Chicopee City Council has died. Council Vice President Bob Zygarowski passed away on Sunday.

Zygarowski was first elected to the council in 2003 after serving almost three decades as a Chicopee Police Officer.

According to the Chicopee Mayor's Office- in addition to his deep affection for his community and city, he held his family dear to his heart. His wife, Patti Zygarowski, who sadly passed away before him, was his world, along with their two sons, Ryan and Sean, and his grandson, Jack.

"Our condolences go out to the Zygarowski family and to anyone whose life was touched by Bob," Mayor John Vieu said.

In honor of his passing, we have lowered the flags to half-staff throughout the city.

As Bob would always say, “If you see something, say something."

Zygarowski was 80 years old.
