Don Brown is out as head football coach at UMass Amherst.
Offensive coordinator Shane Montgomery will be the interim coach.
The Minutemen are 2-8 this season with two games left against 8th-ranked Georgia and UConn.
Athletic Director Ryan Bamford said the search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
Brown was 6 and 28 through three seasons.
UMass will finish its road season this weekend at Georgia.
Then the season finale will be against UMass at Amherst.
