Jake Owen paid tribute to a late legend with a rendition of a 70s classic he shared on Instagram on Monday morning (July 28).
The Florida-born country star announced the next song to release from his Dreams to Dream project is “Them Old Love Songs,” which is due to arrive on Friday, August 8. Owen teamed up with friend and record producer Shooter Jennings, son of late legend Waylon Jennings, on Dreams to Dream. He said on Monday morning that “working with Shooter was so cool, and it was pretty great to be able to record a Waylon [Jennings] song, one of my favorites, called ‘Them Old Love Songs.’”
Owen deemed the rendition “a soulful new chapter in the Dreams to Dream saga,” when he recently announced the release date. He tagged musician Leroy Powell in the post on Instagram, and wrote, “you sonic sorcerer, your ninja vibes painted this album with pure magic. Been a fan of your solo genius forever—reached out, shared the vision, and you poured in that secret sauce. This record’s heart beats because of you, brother.”
