Food Network Star Anne Burrell Dead At 55

Anne Burrell, a beloved celebrity chef often featured on the Food Network, has passed away at 55.

Representatives for Burrell announced that she died Tuesday (June 17) morning at her home in Brooklyn, New York, according to a release obtained by People.

"Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered," her family said in a statement. "Anne's light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal."

Burrell, known for her signature spiky platinum hair and exuberant personality, first brought her culinary skills to the Food Network while appearing as a sous chef on Iron Chef America, per People. She landed her own show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and later found a longtime gig hosting Worst Cooks in America. Burrell also made appearances on shows like Chopped, Food Network Star and Chef Wanted. She was most recently featured on the competition series House of Knives, which premiered in March 2025.

Burrell is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, whom she married in October 2021, his son, Javier, her mother, Marlene, brother Ben, sister Jane, and her children Isabella, Amelia and Nicolas.
