Meghan Patrick paid tribute to legendary country star George Strait when she appeared on a recent episode of God’s Country with hosts and brothers Dan and Reid Isbell.

Country singer-songwriter Patrick performed a stunning cover of Strait’s “Troubadour,” the title track of Strait’s 12-track record that released in 2008. The song was one of several included in a medley to honor the Texas-born icon at the 58th CMA Awards last month in Nashville, Tennessee. Strait received the 2024 Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. Jamey JohnsonMiranda LambertParker McCollumChris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson teamed up to perform an all-star tribute on the Bridgestone Arena stage that evening. Watch Patrick’s rendition of the Strait ballad below.

“This week Reid and Dan host female country singer and lover of the woods, Meghan Patrick, out in God's Country. They dive in on Meghan's newfound love of mushroom foraging and how one of her latest finds lead to her husband, Mitchell Tenpenny, getting extremely irritated with her. Meghan shares how her love for the outdoors has developed over the years and the permanent marker she has to never let her forget her first giant buck. Reid and Dan dig in with her about the challenges she has faced coming across the border to pursue her dream as a female country artist and what motivates her to keep pushing through the noise. Some may say the episode ends ‘angelic’ with her Gravorite!”

Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke CombsMiranda LambertScotty McCreeryJon PardiLainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast this year. Guests appearing on the show so far include HARDYDustin LynchColbie Caillat and others.

“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”

The iHeartPodcasts/MeatEater show is available anywhere you listen to podcasts, including in the iHeartRadio app. Select country stations will broadcast the show between 7-11:30 p.m. local time on Sunday evenings. Find God's Country here.
