Social media was buzzing when screens went black during the big game. Many wondered if it was a five million dollar mistake. After all, the blackness lasted for 30 second…the length of a typical Super Bowl ad.
Enough people questioned it that NBC opted to tweet. “We had a brief equipment failure that we quickly resolved. No game action or commercial time were missed." They also said no commercials were missed.
That wasn’t the whole problem… if you used NBC’s app or stream many times during commercials you’d see the message “Coverage will resume momentarily.” The “#blackout” responses on Twitter were classic.
