Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has issued a statement on the passing of legendary entertainer Dolly Parton.
The governor said Parton was an amazing human being, her music meant so much to so many people and her generosity and kindness made her even more special.
The governor says her heart goes out to Parton's family, friends and fans.
President Trump has ordered that U.S. flags be lowered to half-staff and, in accordance with a Presidential Proclamation, Commonwealth of Massachusetts flags will be flown at half-staff until sunset on September 1st.
In Massachusetts, several bridges in the area, including the Longfellow Bridge were lit in pink to honor the country icon who died Tuesday of cancer at the age of 80.
