Racing NASCAR at New Hampshire Motor Speedway - How Did I Do?

Fun fact about me that not everyone knows... I'm a Demolition Derby Queen! In my early years of country radio I would partake in the Franklin County Fair Stoney Roberts Demo Derby and I learned that I'm quite good at crashing cars on purpose! In fact I won the feature in 2010 and won my heat the following year.

Since 2011 I've been retired from car crashing, but I wanted to see how well I was at going fast so when invited to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for media day I couldn't say no. Even cooler; it was something they let me experience with my Dad which I know was extra special because NASCAR was something that my Grandfather never missed!

The day started with a little lesson thanks to the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience. Yes you could do this too! They went over the basics of the track, safety, and what not to do with the gears. Then they brought us on the track to sit shotgun while a professional drove us around at 135mph. Now I hate rollercoasters for the drops... but I LOVE TO GO FAST!!! I was initially a little nervous and then I just screamed and laughed because I was having so much fun!

After the professional trip around they then let you drive yourself. To quote Ricky Bobby... "If you're not first, you're last". Well out of a pool of media people I was in fact the slowest around the track. Even with Yoda on my car the force was not with me, but it was one hell of an experience and next year... I'll get better ;-)

Of course race New England's only NASCAR weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway is coming up July 15-17 with the Ambetter 301 on Sunday the 17th. If you've never gone to this race you have to put it on your bucket list. Some of the most fun I've ever had was years back at one of the races. Tickets.

This was the last race I went to in 2011 - Tony Stewart is my Mom's fave.
