Did I go see Kenny at Nissan Stadium? No I did not, but I saw that a few New England peeps were in Nashville last weekend for his record breaking show! Got a few messages from listeners asking if that is why I was there, but in full transparency I didn't even realize that he was going to be playing I just went to hang with some Nashville friends and former MA residents!
My excursion was really just to relax and unwind with one of my besties and former co-workers who now resides in Nashville. I try to get down a few times a year to couch crash and get into some shenanigans! And that we did!
Night #1 was all about the Bushwhacker... if you have never had one of these frozen boozy beverages I tell people they taste a lot like a Dunkin Coffee Coolatta (hey Dunks... can we bring that back ;-)).
Day/Night #2 Ladies of Leisure! Checked out a spot called Velvet Taco in Midtown, hit up the Parthenon (not sure why Nashville has a replica of this Ancient Greek Building, but it's cool), and then nabbed some beers at a spot called Prost & Riot. AND THEN...
Day 3 - I'M ON A BOAT! 2 boats & about 30 friends and strangers ventured out on to Old Hickory and we had a grand ole time! I will say these double decker pontoons did concern me a little. They're really more of a sun deck, but drunk people love to roll that "could I end up on barstool dice" and dance up top the dub decker. I used it as a means to get to the slide!!!!
Day 4 - Brunch & Spazmatics! BEST COVER BAND I'VE EVER SEEN! I'm a sucker for 80s music and that was their main area of expertise.
Day 5... Time To Come Home. I didn't fly out until late Monday night, but the day was mainly for recovery. No hard seltzers were consumed; just Shirley Temples. Got a little walk in the woods and went down the rabbit hole of "Mr. Ballen".
Mr. Ballen is a guy that has a YouTube channel where he tells stories about the strange, dark, & mysterious. Watched A LOT... and then discovered he also has a podcast on our free iHeart Radio app. As I continued to creep on this guy I also discovered he grew up in Quincy! SMALL WORLD. It's all I listened to on the plane ride home and let's just say I woke up in the middle of the night talking out loud to something in my nightmare. Yup. I'll be sleeping with a night light for a little bit.
Nashville... I'll see you again soon!
