13 Reasons Why - 2nd Season Coming This Month

May 18th - 13 Reason Why returns with season 2 to Netflix. In Season 1 we are taken through a series of tapes as to why Hannah killed herself. It left us with another shooting of what type we aren't sure... hence Season 2.

The trailer for Season 2 was released earlier today.

Personally, I think Season 1 was good to get parents to talk with their kids about such an uneasy topic, but I'm not sure if a Season 2 should have been crafted. Perhaps I'll change my mind as I will most likely watch.

Season 1 brought to attention a subject most parents don't want to approach with their children. Teenage suicide. It is something that should be talked about and perhaps it was an eye opener for some parents to talk more with their teenagers about what goes on at their school. What happens in Season 1 sadly can happen at any school. However, for a teen that is already on the edge and struggling this series could be dangerous.

I happen to take an anti-depressant and most likely will for life. I didn't seem to struggle with depression until my early twenties where luckily I was much more aware of what was going on and able to cope and understand that outside assistance was available to me.

If these issues had been prevalent in my teenage years a show like 13 Reasons would have perhaps not been the best thing for me to see without someone to talk about it with.

My advice... parents I understand it's harder to keep tabs on teenagers & banning them from watching this show won't work. SOOOOOO if you are uneasy about it, but aware your kids are going to watch... make sure to check in on them and watch yourself so you know what is going on.

May is Mental Health Month. We need to get to a place where people no longer suffer in silence because they're afraid of what people will think. When it comes to mental health so much is treatable! If you have questions about feeling "off" as I used to put it talk to your doctor! They can help point you in the right direction.
