Carly Pearce credits Kenny Chesney’s mom for the opportunity to take the stage with the “Beer In Mexico” artist.

Pearce is hitting the road on Chesney’s “Here and Now Tour,” along with Dan + Shay and Old Dominion. She shared a story during a recent fan Q&A, reflecting a unique “meet and greet” story from the first night of the nationwide trek. Her record label shared Pearce’s recollection of the heartwarming moment:

“(Chesney’s) like, ‘Hey, can you come to my bus? I need you to meet somebody.’ And I walked up there, and (meet) the cutest, tiniest little woman, and it was his mother, and she was like, ‘Kenny just loves you and I love your music, and I’m just so happy that you’re out here.’ And what’s funny about that is, she said to him on opening night, ‘You’re gonna sing with him aren’t you?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know, am I?’ And now I sing with him.”

Pearce has teamed up with Chesney to sing Grace Potter’s part on “You and Tequila,” one of the tracks on Chesney’s Hemingway’s Whiskey album that released in 2010. That collection also included fan-favorites like “The Boys of Fall,” “Live a Little” and “Somewhere With You,” among others. Pearce previously shared a snippet of her onstage duet with Chesney on TikTok. Relive the performance here:
