TJ Osborne Shares How Country Music Community Received Him After Coming Out

TJ Osborne opened up about how he’s been received by the country music fans since coming out as gay.

The Brothers Osborne singer talked about this and more in a new interview with CBS This Morning alongside his brother and bandmate, John Osborne.

"It's a hard thing to describe and a very difficult thing to go through, and I even had a lot of support around me. But once I finally came out, I didn't really understand the magnitude of how much people cared about me and loved me and supported me," the country star told the outlet. "Had I known that the whole time, I would have done it probably a long time ago and saved myself a lot of strife."

The crooner added, “Anyone out there, if you're dealing with that, there's people that love you and people that support you a lot. Feel encouraged by that."

TJ came out as gay in a February 3 interview with TIME, telling the publication at the time: "I'm very comfortable being gay. I find myself being guarded for not wanting to talk about something that I personally don't have a problem with. That feels so strange."

Speaking on how his fans and loved ones have accepted him being gay, the 36-year-old told CBS This Morning that he’s received more love than he imagined.

"It has been a tsunami of love, almost to the point that it was hard for me to comprehend it for several days,” said the 36-year-old, who has known of his sexuality since his youth. "My close family and friends have known for a while. At the same time, I felt publicly I was stuck in a second gear phase.”
