Luke Bryan Brings Country To LA During iHeartCountry Album Release Party

Luke Bryan just released his sixth studio album, What Makes You Country. To celebrate the release Luke joined iHeartRadio on December 12th, for an iHeartCountry Album Release Party. The event was hosted by iHeartCountry's Bobby Bones, at the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles.

Fresh off his 19th number-one song with "Light It Up," Luke treated the crowd to songs both old and new. He performed past hits, "Move," "That's My Kind Of Night," "Huntin' Fishin' And Lovin' Every Day," "I Don't Want This Night To End," and "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)." He also mixed brand new songs off What Makes You Country including, "Most People Are Good," "Light It Up," "Like You Say You Do," "What Makes You Country," and "Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset."

When Bobby asked Luke why he decided to name the album What Makes You Country, he said, "In our society people are putting people in boxes, saying you've gotta be here, you've gotta be this or that. That happens in a lot in all of music. So, What Makes You Country, I just want people to be proud of if they are country 24/7 because that's what they are, or if you can't get to the country but once a month - fly that flag too."

Luke co-wrote seven of the songs on What Makes You Country, so how does he find time in his busy schedule to write? "I write really well out on the road. I don't want to write when I'm home, so it's nice to write on the road. The main thing is trying to focus, and make the time to sit down." Luke says he will start a 100 songs, and then get distracted - so it's really important that he finishes the songs that he starts.

For 2018, Luke will tackle a new experience as a judge on American Idol. When asked how it's been so far, Luke said, "We've done about 300 auditions. We've seen some unbelievable talent. Katy and Lionel, we're just having a blast trying to find the American Idol. We're just having a blast, and seeing this kids come out of the wood work. It's inspiring for me, because I'm like I've gotta get back and get to the drawing board - These people can sing a lot better than me."

American Idol will return on Sunday, March 11th on ABC.
