Super Bowl By The Numbers... What Are You Eating This Weekend?

What are your plans for Super Bowl Sunday? Honestly, I'm just not as invested this year aside from commercials and half time show so I have yet to solidify outside of ... yes there will be wings!

Some interesting finds for this years' Bowl by the numbers...

Do we eat more on Thanksgiving or Super Bowl Sunday???

Well I'd say it depends what food you like more. I'd suspect I eat more on Super Bowl Sunday because Wings and Con Queso, but for most still slightly more on turkey day. In the first turkey sitting (not counting 2nd rounds) people consume about 3,000 calories. Just during the big game people consume about 2400 calories (not counting everything else you ate that day).

Spoon University did a breakdown of a typical spread...

  • 2 slices of pepperoni pizza: 626 calories
  • 5 cans of regular beer: 732 calories
  • 4 chicken wings: 473 calories
  • 1 servings of cheese nachos: 275 calories
  • 1.5 servings of barbecue potato chips: 206 calories
  • Half a cup of salsa con queso: 179 calories
  • Half a dozen celery sticks with a tablespoon of ranch: 67 calories

Grand Total: 2,558

My suggestion... maybe switch to a lighter beer to save some calories???

As for beer...any idea what the most consumed will be? According to Instacart orders for the big day already it's not a common light beer. Here's the Top 10

  1. Modelo Especial
  2. Coors Light
  3. Blue Moon
  4. Bud Light Seltzer (<-- Hey... Not a beer!)
  5. Corona Extra
  6. Stella Artois
  7. Kona Big Wave
  8. Michelob Ultra
  9. Bud Light
  10. Corona Light

Now if they consider Bud Light Seltzer a beer are they factoring White Claw too? I'd be interested to see where that falls on a list.
