Yesterday was the first Open Newbury Street Sunday in August - the street is totally shut down to vehicles except one. A special pooch in a hot pink ride was spotted cruising the street, but the wrong way. A citation was issued, but Gumbo will be welcomed back to ride another Open weekend :-)
Two more open Sundays this month - August 22nd and 29th. Newbury will be open to pedestrians only from Berkeley Street to Mass Ave. Parking will be restricted on Newbury Street and adjacent streets with enforcement beginning at 5 a.m.
The city plans to announce additional open streets events to take place in multiple Boston neighborhoods in the early fall.
