Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno is calling for a more pronounced State Police presence in the wake of a spate of shootings and other violence in the state's third largest city. Sarno says he wants more state cops in the city...more jobs for people so they will feel they have a value...education for kids...the courts to issue harsh sentences and parents to take control of their kids lives. Sarno says troopers would be utilized in crime hotspots in the city including the entertainment district. Sarno says he takes the recent violence personally because the more people hear and read about the violent acts the more they may not want to deal with the city including the possibility of a casino. State and local police are now working on a game plan.
