A 14 year old high school student held without bail on murder charges after slitting the throat of one of his teachers. Fox25 reports Philip Chism went to a movie and then to Wendy’s after allegedly killing 24 year old Colleen Ritzer who was an Assumption College grad. Ritzer is the second teacher to be killed this week. The other was in Nevada.

The Springfield Water Department says that Tiffany Street water main break yesterday was a lot bigger than anyone thought. The repairs are so immense that Tiffany and Groveland Street will be closed for further notice.

In Westfield they are still talking about re-doing Western Avenue. That’s the most popular way to get to Westfield State and Stanley Park among other places. Informational meeting last night heard the plan to reconstruct some three miles. But some residents say that there is no mechanism to take care of bikes.

This Saturday the Springfield Police Department will be hosting a prescription drug take back day. People can drop off unwanted medications at the Central High School parking lot Saturday from 1o till 2. Nationwide almost three million pounds have been collected in previous take back days.

A Worcester Superior Court Judge will not lift the injunction that bars the Worcester Telegram and the Boston Globe to be sold to Red Sox owner John Henry. The sale won’t be able to go through until a federal suit that will decide whether newspaper carriers are employees or independent contractors.

City Councilors in Worcester got a full plate from restaurant owners blasting a proposal to relax the rules on food trucks. That’s the proposal from Councilor Fred Rushton. All the owners came out to tell councilors that the trucks will cost them business and jobs. The council has not decided when they will vote on the controversial proposal.

The Judge in the Annie Dookhan evidence tampering case says that if she pleads to the laundry list of charges she will be sentenced to no more than five years. That exceeds the guidelines. The judge says that there was substantial harm done and that’s why she would go outside the guidelines.
