Connecticut shoppers get a break, at least partially and only for a week, from the state's sales tax.
Now and lasting through Saturday, Aug. 23, the 6.35 percent sales and use tax will not be applied on purchases of clothing and footwear costing less than $300.
The tax-free week is set to coincide with the back-to-school shopping season.
Shoppers can visit the state Department of Revenue Services website to find examples of clothing and footwear items that will be exempt from the tax.
Most Massachusetts retailers say they were satisfied with the weekend only sales tax holiday. In Massachusetts anything under 25 hundred dollars with the exception of cars and boats were sales tax free.
